 Mahendra Singh Dhoni, popularly known as MS Dhoni, is a former Indian cricketer and captain of the Indian national team. He was born on July 7, 1981 in Ranchi, India. Dhoni is considered as one of the greatest cricketers to have ever played the game and one of the best Indian captains of all time.

Dhoni started his cricket career playing for the Central Coal Fields Limited team in 1999. He made his first-class debut for Bihar in the year 1999-2000, and was soon selected for the Indian cricket team in December 2004. He made his ODI debut against Bangladesh in December of that year and went on to play 90 Tests, 350 ODIs, and 98 T20Is for India.

Dhoni was appointed as the captain of the Indian cricket team in 2007 and led India to victory in the 2007 T20 World Cup, making him the first Indian captain to win a World Cup in any format. Under his leadership, India also won the 2010 Asia Cup and reached the finals of the 2011 World Cup, where they finished runners-up. Dhoni is also known for his quick and accurate stumping, and his calm and composed demeanor on the field.

In 2013, Dhoni retired from Test cricket and focused on limited-overs cricket. He led India to victory in the 2013 Champions Trophy, becoming the first team to win the tournament twice. Dhoni was also the captain of the Chennai Super Kings franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL) from 2008 to 2015 and again from 2018 to 2020.
